LERNOWICZ: With sadness the family would like to announce the passing of Bernard Joseph Lernowicz. Bernard passed away peacefully at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Sunday, July 5th, 2009 at the age of 81 years. Bernard can be remembered for his love of trains. He worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway and retired in 1991. He was an active bowler in his early years and celebrated winning some tournaments. Later in life, Bernard found enjoyment in gardening and taking care of his flowers. Bernard was also known for his love of poker and pool and could often be found at the Sokol. He was a member of the Sokol Association and also a past member of the UCT. Bernard is survived by his loving wife Rose; his children Linda (Keith), Brenda, and Garry (Dawn); as well as 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Stan and Cecil; his sister Della; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bernard was predeceased by his mother Nora (Polnik); father Andrew; brothers Joe, Charles, Ted and Walter; and his sisters Emily and Jean. A private family graveside service was held on Friday July 10, 2009 at the Brandon Cemetery Columbarium.
